Sustainability and Environment

“Consistently striving to develop a stronger sustainable future through focus and understanding of the social, economic and environmental impacts of our business.”

Everyone has an opportunity to help the environment and make a difference and at WPC Group, our environmental responsibility starts with our internal environment management.

We are committed to identifying environmental impacts that result from our activities and aim to ensure that these activities are environmentally sound, while we continue to provide our host employers, apprentices and trainees with the quality of service that meets their expectations.

Across each of our offices, we are committed to providing a safe, smoke-free environment for our employees including visitors and other guests. In addition, we encourage all employees to develop positive values and attitudes towards the environment and provide training opportunities to emphasize employee responsibility for prevention of pollution and waste.

WPC Group has a long standing interest in environmental sustainability. Some of the programs we are involved in are as follows:

  • • Founding partner and ongoing supporter of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) of Australia;
  • • Contract the Planet Earth Cleaning Company for all office cleans;
  • • Member of the GreenFleet Carbon Offset Program;
  • • First Group Training Organisation to offer apprenticeships and traineeships in the green economy – GreenSkills;
  • • Major sponsor of PowerShift 2009
Reducing environmental impacts has been a priority for WPC Group and will continue to be a priority. Significant success has been achieved through waste reduction and recycling programs, downsizing of fleet vehicles, video conferencing to reduce travel, using an eco-friendly cleaning company and ensuring that our offices are located close to public transport …. but it doesn’t stop here! As part of our commitment to the environment and to FSC Australia, WPC has agreed that wherever possible, WPC Group will only use forest products that have been certified as coming from recycled sources or responsibly managed forests.

We are working with FSC Australia to improve all our practices and processes where they relate to forest products.

As an organisation, we want to contribute to healthier, stronger communities that are better off as a result of our activities. We want to see our young employees enjoy a future that is full of endless possibilities in a world that is clean and sustainable. It is for that reason that we are aiming, over time, to be a carbon neutral business.

That’s our commitment and we encourage it to be yours too!
