'Department of Industry, Training Services Awarded Employer Recognition Award for Commitment to Training and Skills' - Sydney, NSW

WPC Group’s Chairman Fred Maddern (OBE) awarded the New South Wales Department of Industry, Training Services with an Employer Recognition Award for longstanding commitment to training and skills development. They were given this award on July 11th at the ‘Celebrating the Citi New Recruits’ event held at Parliament House in Sydney, NSW.

Training Services NSW in the NSW Department of Industry is responsible for government-funded vocational education and training (VET) in NSW.

The NSW Department of Industry leads strategic policy, planning, funding, regulation and advice on VET to support economic, regional and community development.

Training Services NSW is responsible for the implementation of funded programs, including Smart and Skilled, apprenticeships and traineeships and adult and community education. It undertakes contract management of approved Smart and Skilled training providers and implements quality assurance and performance monitoring to achieve the best possible outcomes for students.

The Department of Industry, Training Services, were thrilled by the decision of WPC Group to award them with Employer Recognition Award.

Derek Hennessy the Regional Manager, Central & Northern Sydney, of the New South Wales Department of Industry - Skills & Economic Development remarked that: “We struggled to find a suitable trainee, that’s when we reached out to WPC Group. What made WPC Group different was the pre-traineeship program which developed our trainee Molina to be work ready. Having a trainee that could have some job ready skills was what made this so beneficial. That’s why this employer recognition award is really a testament to Molina.”

The passion of the Department of Industry, Training Services lies in supporting apprenticeships, traineeships and skilling the youth of Australia.

A trainee from the Department of Industry, Training Services also won an award. Molina Strickland was awarded one of four 2018 Citi Scholarship. These scholarships will allow them the opportunity to overcome roadblocks and go through personal development and growth.

Since our partnership began WPC Group has placed 9 trainees with the Department of Industry, Training Services in New South Wales.
