NISSMAP Apprentices put training into practice at the 2018 WorldSkills Competition.

WPC Group Nissan automotive apprentices Dylan Matwijow and Steven Catanzariti are over the moon after placing second and third in the 2017 WorldSkills Australia Competition (Sydney Region) in the Automotive Services category.

Dylan Matwijow is part of the Nissan Mentored Apprenticeship Program (NISSMAP) and has been employed with Pennant Hills Nissan for the past 15 months.

“Having the opportunity to compete in the WorldSkills Competition and finishing off with a Silver Medal has shown me that with commitment and belief you can achieve and be successful in the automotive industry.”

3rd year apprentice Steven enjoyed the opportunity to apply his NISSMAP training during the full day of testing at Ultimo TAFE.

“Competing in the Sydney region of the 2017 Automotive WorldSkills Competition allowed me to test my ability against my peers and put into practice the theory and practical knowledge that I have gained through my employment at Sydney City Nissan and NISSMAP training.”

Sydney City Nissan Service Manager Anthony Doldo congratulated Steven and was justifiably proud saying, “Steve has proven to be a valuable asset to Sydney Motor Group and to the brand itself. He is a stand out apprentice and a perfect example of the WPC Group NISSMAP Program.”

The WorldSkills Australia Regional Competitions are held biennially in more than 30 regions across the country.

Apprentices, trainees and students under the age of 23 can test their skills and knowledge and, if successful, can go on to compete at the National Competition for the chance to win the coveted title of Australia’s best in their field.
