'WPC Group NSW apprentice lands a US scholarship'

From New South Wales to Kentucky, Light Vehicle Mechanical apprentice Christopher Krklinski will go on a study tour to the United States, including a Mercedes-Benz dealership in Kentucky, in February 2020.

The young automotive apprentice working for Australian Mercedes-Benz Sydney dealership has been granted a scholarship that will see him embark on a cultural and career development tour. The trip is funded by Skilling Australia Foundation, and is a chance for Chris to gain insight into how Mercedes-Benz operates internationally. All expenses are covered and including flights, transfers, accommodation, meals and insurances, as well as providing the apprentices with a US-based mentor, uniforms and protective equipment.

The scholarship consist of a two-day observation visit to a Mercedes-Benz dealership in Kentucky to observe first-hand how the American automotive training approach differs from the Aussie one.

Chris (20) is a light vehicle mechanical apprentice, currently working for Mercedes-Benz Sydney, who started his apprenticeship last year. Chris is a bright young, he continues to excel throughout his apprenticeship and thoroughly appreciates the experience of being able to work on high performance, expensive machines; especially within a state-of-the-art service centre.

Currently over 70 apprentices are plying their trade nationally at Lei Shing Hong (LSH) owned dealerships: Mercedes-Benz Sydney, Mercedes-Benz Brisbane, Mercedes-Benz Melbourne, Mercedes-Benz Airport Express, Mercedes-Benz Melbourne Vans and Mercedes-Benz Melbourne Autobody.

Christopher is just one automotive apprentices benefitting from working for the world’s biggest Mercedes-Benz passenger vehicle retailer. LSH boast a strong apprentice program through Mercedes-Benz dealerships in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane that’s helping fuel its growth.

WPC Group apprentices working at Australian Mercedes-Benz dealerships have been receiving the Skilling Australia Foundation International Scholarship yearly since 2016.
