Celebrating a Cross-Continental Exchange of Knowledge and Passion for Apprenticeships

By Janine McPhee, State Manager VIC/QLD.

What an incredible journey we’re on with Adriano, Louis, and Ray, the three outstanding  apprentices from LSH Auto Australia. These scholarship recipients—two Light Vehicle apprentices and a budding Panel Beater—are experiencing an eye-opening week in the UK, immersed in the world-class facilities and culture of LSH Auto UK. As a mentor on this journey, I’m beyond excited to witness not just their growth, but the powerful collaboration between the  Australian and UK LSH teams.

From Mercedes-Benz Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, these apprentices embody talent, ambition, and the drive to learn. Here in Manchester, they were welcomed with open arms by their counterparts, exchanging ideas, techniques, and experiences that will shape their careers for years to come.

Visiting places like the state-of-the-art Stockport dealership—one of Europe’s largest Mercedes-Benz facilities—will not only broadened their technical knowledge but has also shown them the scale and potential of what’s possible in the industry they’re so passionate about.

The magic of this tour, though, isn’t just in the locations or the technology; it’s in the people. Watching apprentices from Australia and the UK connect, learn from one another, and find common ground is something truly remarkable.

LSH Auto’s commitment to apprenticeship programs globally is clear. Investing in young talent, fostering international collaboration, and providing opportunities like this tour are testaments to the company’s dedication and commitment to partnerships to both the personal and professional growth of its apprentices.

As a mentor, I couldn’t be prouder to see Adriano, Louis, and Ray embracing this opportunity wholeheartedly.

The apprenticeship pathway is about so much more than just learning a trade; it’s about building a global community of skilled, passionate professionals.
